Schooling in Dubai
Private schools in Dubai are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). At the start of the 2026β27 year they had 406,563 students, up from 387,441 across 227 schools in 2024β25, and students come from around 185 nationalities. KHDA froze private school fees for 2026β27, and full school inspections return this year after a two-year pause.
Dubai's schools offer 17 curricula. In 2024β25 the UK curriculum was the largest at about 37% of students, followed by Indian (26%), US (14%) and IB (7%), with another 4% at schools combining UK and IB programmes. Many British and IB schools sit along the Jumeirah to Dubai Marina corridor and in family communities such as Al Barsha, Arabian Ranches and Dubai Hills Estate, while Oud Metha and Al Qusais are home to long-established British, French and Indian schools.
The sector keeps growing. Seven new schools and 17 early childhood centres opened for 2026β27, adding nearly 17,000 school seats, and KHDA expects around 18,000 more affordable seats over the next two years. Under the Education 33 strategy, Dubai aims to open at least 100 new private schools by 2033.
