Schooling in Lusail
Lusail is a planned city of 38 km² and 19 districts in the south of Al Daayen municipality, just north of Doha, built by Qatari Diar for more than 200,000 residents. Its schools are licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education like all private schools in Qatar. Al Daayen is still a small schooling market: National Planning Council figures counted 16 private schools in 2022, up from 14 a year earlier, so many Lusail children still travel into Doha each day.
That is changing as new campuses open. Newton International Academy Lusail, opposite Marina Central metro station, opened in August 2025 with a British curriculum from Foundation Stage to Year 13, leading to IGCSE and A-Levels. Arab International Academy's Lusail campus is an IB candidate school for the Primary Years and Middle Years programmes, and Doha British School opened a campus at nearby Rawdat Al Hamama in 2022.
More is planned. A school offering both UK and IB pathways for up to 1,600 students has been announced for Qetaifan Island North, and Lusail's master plan sets aside sites for schools across residential districts such as Fox Hills, Al Erkyah and the Marina.

Lusail is growing into a university district of its own. City University Qatar, which works with Ulster University, opened a campus for up to 5,000 students near Lusail Stadium in 2025, and Lusail University and UKM-Qatar are also based in the city.
